True story: I met a lady who introduced herself as an advocate for the homeless. She insisted, quite passionately, that the homeless should be referred to as “unhoused”. She explained that the word “homeless” was just too demeaning and the word “unhoused” was more compassionate. If you missed it the first time, she introduced herself as advocate for the homeless.
